The first recorded execution in the United States was of Kendall George.  He was executed by being shot. the other methods that have been used in the United States are hanging, lethal gas, lethal injection, firing squad, and electrocution.  The world, however, has seen many other forms or execution.  People have been executed in many different ways. These methods include: branding, shackles, be heading by axe, guillotine, incineration, the gibbet, the wheel, boiling, drawn and quartered, and others.  The evolution of methods of execution has resulted from the search to find a more “humane” method.
